RM Medics secures £800k funding package to cut NHS waiting lists

RM Medics, a Bedford-based healthcare recruitment specialist, has secured an £800,000 funding facility from SME lender Praetura to invest in growing its support for NHS trusts around the UK.

The funding comes as the NHS continues to face significant pressure to increase capacity and bring down waiting lists. Around 7.27 million patients were waiting for treatment in England in July 2026, according to NHS England, despite the health service treating more patients within 18 weeks than at any point in nearly five years.

To help NHS providers increase capacity and meet demand, RM Medics operates 24 hours a day, connecting its roster of hundreds of locum doctors and other healthcare professionals with NHS trusts, hospitals and private healthcare providers across the UK to cover staff shortages and treat more patients.

RM Medics also provides complete clinical teams that can be deployed within two to four weeks to run additional services during weekends and bank holidays, covering areas including surgery, diagnostic imaging, endoscopy and outpatient care. This allows NHS trusts to run extra clinics and procedures using their existing facilities, helping patients access treatment more quickly while reducing pressure on permanent teams.

The business is currently bidding for several new NHS clinical insourcing contracts as it looks to further support the health service by helping to reduce waiting times and meet government targets.

The funding will give RM Medics greater access to working capital, enabling it to pursue new opportunities and take on larger contracts as it continues to diversify across the UK healthcare sector. It will also support a recruitment drive, including strategic internal appointments, while investment in new technology will improve project delivery and help the business expand its network of healthcare professionals and clients.

Mohammad Mohson, Director at RM Medics, said: “NHS teams are under sustained pressure to meet demand and reduce waiting lists, but adding capacity cannot come at the expense of quality or continuity of care. Our role is to make it easier for trusts to bring in experienced clinical teams quickly and integrate them with the services already in place.

“Praetura’s support gives us the financial flexibility to pursue new clinical insourcing opportunities and continue supporting NHS and private healthcare providers across the UK.”

Jeff Greenfield, Sales Director at Praetura, said: “We’re proud to support RM Medics as it plays an important role in helping healthcare providers respond to staffing pressures and ensure they have the right clinical expertise when they need it.

“The strength of its pipeline shows the demand for its services. We’re pleased to provide a facility that gives the business the funding it needs to pursue new NHS contracts and support the next stage of its growth.”

The deal was introduced by Ian Mabbutt, Partner at EMW LLP.
